Rowing on Lady Bird Lake
This original painting captures the serene beauty of rowers gliding across Lady Bird Lake, inspired by Kara’s love for walking its trails and her connection to the sport of rowing through her son-in-law. Kara spent a year collecting photographs of rowers practicing and drew inspiration from her landscape instructor Melanie Morris, Austin artist Lisa Beaman, and her frequent walks around the lake.
Once called Town Lake, Lady Bird Lake was renamed to honor the former First Lady for her efforts to clean and preserve this iconic Austin landmark. Today, its 10-mile trail attracts more than 2.6 million visitors annually, making it Austin’s most beloved recreation area.
