Teal Reflections after Carol Marine
Master Copy in Preparation for My Upcoming Workshop in Portland, Oregon
I recently completed this piece, Teal Reflections after Carol Marine, as part of my preparation for an in-person workshop I’ll be taking with Carol Marine this May in Portland, Oregon.
This master copy was a joy to paint—five glass vases, a single orange bloom, and a luminous teal background that captures the essence of Carol’s bold, painterly style. I was especially drawn to the reflections and the challenge of creating the illusion of transparency and light with loose, confident brushwork.
Studying her composition and technique gave me an even deeper appreciation for her ability to simplify complex forms while keeping the painting fresh and vibrant. Every brushstroke had to count!
As I get ready for the workshop, I’m experimenting with a more expressive, intentional approach—embracing spontaneity, color harmony, and shape relationships in new ways. I can’t wait to learn directly from Carol and continue growing through her mentorship.
Stay tuned—I’ll be sharing more from the class in May!
